Merlin Soaring Association Flight Instruction
The Merlin Soaring Association (MSA)
has
members that are certified flight instructors.
You have to be a member of the MSA to get glider flight instruction utilizing
the MSA gliders. The flight instructors charge for this service separately from
any club charges. See the Operation
page for details on the club charges.
The requirements for the private pilots certificate for gliders are stated in
the current Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR). However, the abilities of each
individual can vary to a great extent. We recommend to visit us, take an
introductory flight and talk to a flight instructor.
MSA is part of the Soaring Society of America's FAST program. FAST stands for
FLY A SAILPLANE TODAY. The FAST package includes a half hour ground instruction
and an introductory flight with a certified flight instructor. The package also
includes a glider logbook and the Soaring Handbook. You can obtain the FAST
package either at the Soaring Society of America
or you can get it from us at the airfield.
